My mind is telling me no, but my stomach, my stomach is telling me yes. That’s what R. Kelly would sing about eating chili in August. I have been CRAVING chili something awful the last two weeks. It’s been an oddly cool August here in Missouri. Of course it’s cool one day and then blazing hot the next; you never know what you’re going to get here.
I told myself I had to at least wait until it was September before I could make a big pot of chili but I considered last night good enough. I made a giant batch and much to my surprise my husband was super excited. He said it was too early but happily ate it any way. 🙂
Below is my chili recipe. I will warn you in advance, it is STUPID easy and EXTREMELY plain. I can’t stand chili’s that have a ton of stuff in them. So if you’re looking for a very basic chili this recipe is for you! If you want something elaborate, sorry about it!
Sarah’s Simple Chili
- 1 lb. of ground beef or ground turkey
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes
- 1 small can of tomato paste
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- ½ a can of water
- 1 mild chili seasoning packet (I am going to learn how to make my own of these!)
Cook your meat and mix all of these ingredients together in your crock pot. Set it to cook on low for 8 hours and that’s it! We eat ours with a ton of crackers but you can pair yours with whatever you’d like!
